NICEIC has been assessing the technical competence of electricians for over 50 years.  Our aim is to protect everyone who uses electricity from unsafe electrical installations anywhere.  To achieve this, we maintain a register of qualified, competent electricians.

Once contractors become registered with NICEIC, they are re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure high standards.

Over 26,000 contractors are registered by NICEIC, covering the whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland. This means that you're sure to have a choice of competent contractors operating in your area.

The main benefits of using a contractor registered by NICEIC include:

Safety and competence

Electricians registered by NICEIC are assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards, codes of practice and rules of the Schemes they are registered to.

Compliance with building regulations

Contractors registered to NICEIC Building Regulations Schemes

in England and Wales are authorised to self-certify their work to the Local Building Control Body.  This saves you both time and money when undertaking work that requires notification under the

Building Regulations.

Platinum Promise and Complaints Procedure

We expect all NICEIC registered contractors to provide a quality service to their customers. We stand behind the quality of NICEIC registered contractors and we believe that as a consumer you should have peace of mind.  Our Platinum Promise means that if you are not happy with the work that is done by an NICEIC registered contractor and we agree that it is deficient we will help to put it right.

We believe it is important to give contractors the opportunity to work with their customers to resolve any issues. Issues or complaints against the standard of work should be raised with the original contractor first. If this does not resolve the issue a complaint can be made to NICEIC.

The Platinum Promise applies for up to six years from the completion of work by a NICEIC registered contractor and has a limit of £25,000 per installation.
